Orexin B, also known as hypocretin-2, is a neuropeptide that is produced by a small group of neurons in the hypothalamus, a region of the brain that plays a critical role in regulating various physiological functions, including sleep, appetite, and energy balance.
Orexin B plays a role in promoting wakefulness and arousal and studies have shown that disruptions in the orexin system are associated with various sleep disorders, including narcolepsy and insomnia.
