Descrição:Staphylococcal protein A (SPA) is a protein that binds to and removes foreign substances, such as bacteria and toxins, from the body. SPA has been shown to bind to the Fc region of antibodies and prevent their activation. This may be due to its ability to inhibit calpains, which are enzymes that cleave proteins at specific sites. Recombinant SPA has been shown to have an approximate molecular mass of 45 kDa. It can be used in chromatographic techniques for purification of proteins and as an additive for protein solutions. SPA also has catalytic properties, which may be due to its ability to act as a catalytic subunit in Escherichia coli.br>
