4-Methylquinolin-7-ol is a synthetic compound that belongs to the class of cyanines. It has shown anti-tumor activity, and has been tested in vitro against rhabdomyosarcoma cells. 4-Methylquinolin-7-ol is also able to penetrate into the brain and may have potential use as an intraventricular drug for cancer treatment. This compound has not been extensively studied in animals or humans. The toxicity studies that have been conducted show that it has low toxicity, with no neurotoxicity or subarachnoid hemorrhage observed in animals at doses up to 5g/kg. 4-Methylquinolin-7-ol also binds to nuclear receptors, which may be responsible for its anti-tumor activity.
