Cis-4-thujanol is an anticancer compound that has been isolated from the urine of Chinese cancer patients. It has been shown to induce apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in a variety of tumor cell lines. Cis-4-thujanol is an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), which are enzymes involved in regulating the cell cycle and promoting cell division. By inhibiting CDK activity, cis-4-thujanol can prevent cancer cells from proliferating and may be effective as a cancer therapy. This compound is a potent analog of other kinase inhibitors that have shown promise as anticancer agents in human studies.
