(3aR,4S,9aS,9Br)-9-(hydroxymethyl)-6-methyl-3-methylidene-2,7-dioxo-2H,3H,3aH,4H,5H,7H,9aH,9bh-azuleno[4,5-b]furan-4-yl 2-(4-hydroxy phenyl)acetate is a sesquiterpene lactone that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in humans. It may be effective in treating autoimmune diseases such as Crohn's disease and multiple sclerosis. It has been shown to act on intracellular calcium levels and help regulate inflammatory reactions in the body. The optimum pH for this compound is 5.5 to 6.5 and it can grow in tissue culture at 37° C with a ph of 5.0 to 7.0.
