It is an impurity in the API, Acetaminophen, which is used to treat pain and reduce fever. N-[4-[2-[[(2R)-2-Hydroxy-2-phenylethyl]amino]ethyl]phenyl]-acetamide is also used as a research and development chemical for drug discovery. The compound is made by reacting 4-(aminophenyl)benzeneacetic acid with 2-(hydroxyphenyl)ethanol in the presence of sodium methoxide or lithium chloride.
