3,3-Diethoxy-1-propylboronic acid pinacol ester is a catalyst used in the synthesis of polyisoprene. It is an organoboron compound that is used as a catalyst in the production of synthetic rubber. The synthesis of polyisoprene begins with the reaction of 1,4-dichlorobutadiene and 3,3-diethoxy-1-propylboronic acid pinacol ester to form dipropylene glycol and borinic ester. This compound has been shown to be a highly active catalyst for polymerization reactions involving pinacol.
