Curcuma aromatica is an herb that belongs to the family of curcuma and has been shown to have pharmacological effects. Curcuma aromatica contains a molecule, 6,7-dihydroxy-3,4-dimethyl-2H-chromen-2-one that binds to the response element for peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARγ). The PPARγ receptor is involved in regulating lipid metabolism and inflammation. It also inhibits hepatitis C virus replication by blocking the production of new viral particles. Curcuma aromatica has been used in traditional Chinese medicine as a remedy for hemorrhoids and other conditions such as pain relief and fever reduction. It has also been used as a hepatoprotective agent against liver damage caused by drugs or radiation.
