Descrição:Ascorbyl monolaurate is a low-energy, occlusive, ethyl ester of ascorbic acid that has been activated by the introduction of one or more double bonds. Ascorbyl monolaurate is used in detergent compositions for treating virus infections and shingles. It has also been shown to be an effective treatment for herpes zoster (shingles) when applied topically in vivo. The pharmacokinetics of ascorbyl monolaurate have been studied in pigs and found to be absorbed through the skin following topical application. A single dose of 10% ascorbyl monolaurate was found to reduce the severity of lesions by 80%.
