Descrição:2-(1,3-Dioxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindol-2-yl)butanal is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the group of aminoglycosides. It is a synthetic compound that has shown antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. 2-(1,3-Dioxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindol-2-)butanal binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria and inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting the translocation of tRNA from the A site to the P site on the ribosome. This compound also prevents bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to peptidoglycan precursors in the cell wall and inhibiting transglycosylation reactions.
