L-Glutamic acid, 1,5-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl) ester is a reactive polymer that is used in pharmaceutical dosage forms. It is also used as a solid catalyst in the production of biodiesel. L-Glutamic acid, 1,5-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl) ester hydrochloride is an ester that can be prepared from glycerol and methyl ethyl trifluoroacetic acid. This chemical has been shown to have high reactivity with fatty acids which can be used for the production of biodiesel. L-Glutamic acid, 1,5-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl) ester hydrochloride has been shown to degrade without emission of toxic substances such as carbon monoxide or nitrous oxide when it reacts with water or moist air.
