3-(Chloromethyl)pyridazine is a local anesthetic compound that binds to the benzodiazepine receptor and blocks pain sensations. It is also a ligand for haloalkylsulfonyl, which are alkylsulfonyl groups that have halogens, such as chlorine or bromine, attached to them. 3-(Chloromethyl)pyridazine has been shown to have antiviral activity against viruses in animals and humans. The antiviral activity of this compound may be due to its ability to bind with viral proteins and inhibit their function. 3-(Chloromethyl)pyridazine has also been found to be able to act as an amide linker by forming bonds with amino acids in the protein.
