When heated at high temperatures, this substance undergoes thermolysis and releases nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen chloride. 5-Methoxy-2-nitrobenzamide has been identified as an environmental pollutant in its own right, as well as being present in the environment due to its use in the production of other substances.
