N-(2,6-Dimethylphenyl)-1-propylpiperidine-2-carboxamide hydrochloride is an active compound that inhibits the enzyme aminopeptidase that is involved in the metabolism of amino acids. It is soluble in organic solvents and can be used as an excipient or a solvent for pharmaceutical preparations. The solubility of N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-1-propylpiperidine-2-carboxamide hydrochloride can be increased by recrystallizing it from cyclic ethers such as tetrahydrofuran or water. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of fungi such as Aspergillus and Fumigatus, but not yeast such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
