Furprofen is a sulfonamide that is used to treat inflammatory bowel disease. Furprofen inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which have been implicated in the development of inflammatory bowel disease. Furprofen also inhibits the activity of cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2 enzymes, which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Furprofen has shown efficacy in treating inflammatory bowel disease by reducing inflammation, mucosal damage, and colonic ulceration. The analytical method used to detect furprofen is UV absorption at 272 nm. This method can be applied to urine samples or other biological fluids.
