2-Ethenylbenzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid is an aromatic organic compound that is a monomer in the polymer matrix. It can be used as a fluorescence probe for optical microscopy and FTIR spectroscopy to study the structures of molecules. 2-Ethenylbenzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid has been shown to have different densities at different temperatures. This chemical has also been used as a molecular weight standard for gel permeation chromatography, and was found to show resolution between the fractions according to molecular weight.
