The compound E-methyl 3-(4-(((2-(2-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl)amino)methyl)phenyl)acrylate is a nitrogen containing organic compound. It is used in the synthesis of drugs that inhibit the activity of kappa opioid receptors and as a reagent in the synthesis of other pharmaceuticals. The structure of this molecule was determined by X-ray crystallography and its genotoxic effects were studied using both solid phase microextraction and enzyme assays. In vitro studies have shown that it inhibits the production of prostaglandins by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, which are responsible for their production. Pharmacokinetic properties of this drug have been studied and it has been found that it is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, metabolized to an active form, and excreted in urine. This drug also has inhibitory properties against trifluoroacetic acid (TFA).
