CZC-54252 is a cellular therapeutic that stimulates the pluripotent stem cells to differentiate into muscle cells. The pluripotent stem cells are derived from muscle tissue, so the therapeutic does not have any adverse effects on the patient's immune system. CZC-54252 has been shown to be capable of treating some symptoms of intestinal diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. It also has potential in treatments for Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. CZC-54252 binds to the kinase domain of proteins that are involved in translation, which regulates protein synthesis, leading to an increase in muscle mass.
