2,3-Dimethyldecane is an alkylating agent that can be used to treat systemic diseases. It has a bactericidal effect on bacterial cells and inhibits the growth of microorganisms by binding to their DNA. The 2,3-dimethyldecane molecule is an alkylating agent that is acidic in nature and can be used as a bactericide for systemic diseases. Alkylation of DNA prevents DNA replication and transcription, which leads to cell death. This process also results in the formation of crosslinks between two strands of DNA, inhibiting DNA repair and synthesis.
2,3-Dimethyldecane has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in vitro at concentrations of 0.5% (w/v) or less. This agent has minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) against Gram-positive bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus faecalis;
