3-Methyl-6-(1-methylhydrazin-1-yl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-2,4-dione is a compound of the selenium class. It consists of two isomers: 3-methyl and 6-(1-methylhydrazin-1-yl). The 3-methyl form has been shown to be an inhibitor of glyoxalase I and II, which are enzymes that catalyze the conversion of methyl ketones to amino acids. It also inhibits methionine synthase and protein synthesis. The 6-(1-methylhydrazin-1-yl) form is an inhibitor of protein synthesis.
