4-(3,4-Dichlorophenyl)-7-methoxy-2-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline is a dopamine uptake inhibitor that belongs to the group of serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It has been shown to be an effective antidepressant in geriatric patients and may be used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. This drug binds to 5HT2A receptors and inhibits the uptake of serotonin into the presynaptic neuron. 4-(3,4-Dichlorophenyl)-7-methoxy-2-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline is also known as "RU24969" or "NAN 1".
