2-Amino-N-cyclohexyl-3-phenyl-DL-propanamide is a solvent, which is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of imidazolines and aliphatic diamines. It is also a substrate for the reaction of aldehydes with solvents such as benzene, toluene, or xylene. The solvents are environmentally friendly, but can cause irritation if inhaled. This compound has been shown to react with a wide range of aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes, including benzaldehyde, acetaldehyde, propionaldehyde and acrolein. 2-Amino-N-cyclohexyl-3-phenyl-DL-propanamide can be used as a chemoselective reagent for the conversion of aliphatic to aromatic amines.
