1-Bromo-6-(trifluoromethyl)naphthalene is a low yield reaction that yields ethynyl, halogens, and polymers. It is made by the grignard reagent reacting with acetylenes and naphthalene. The products of this reaction are eliminated with butyllithium or vinylic reagents. 1-Bromo-6-(trifluoromethyl)naphthalene can be used to synthesize a variety of organic compounds, such as pharmaceuticals and polymers, by a variety of reactions, such as eliminations, grignard reactions, or vinylic reactions.
