- 8-Fluoro-5-quinolinecarbonitrile
8-Fluoroquinoline-5-carbonitrile is a fluorinated quinoline that is used as a polymerization catalyst in the production of polyurethanes. 8-Fluoroquinoline-5-carbonitrile binds to human serum albumin and has been shown to be stable in the presence of other monomers, polymers, or other chemicals. This compound has been investigated for its use as a potential drug to treat infectious diseases such as malaria. 8-Fluoroquinoline-5-carbonitrile has been shown to have selectivity for myoglobin in solid phase microextraction and can be used for sample preparation in protein analysis methods and it can also be used to extract caffeine from coffee beans.
