3-(Methylthio)-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one is an organic compound that belongs to the class of thiones. It is a ligand in coordination chemistry and can be used for the discovery of new lead compounds. 3-(Methylthio)-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one binds to heavy metals such as lead or zinc by forming chelate complexes with them. This ligand also has nitro groups that are sensitive to oxidation and nitration under acidic conditions.
