2-Benzoyl-6-methylpyridine is a substituted pyridine with anti-proliferative effects. It has been used as a reagent to detect copper in organic compounds and as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals. 2-Benzoyl-6-methylpyridine inhibits the growth of tumor cells by binding to the phenyl ring and the pyridine ring, which prevents it from binding to proteins or DNA. This compound also has anti-tumor activity that may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of ATP.
