2-(Cyclohexylaminomethyl)pyridine is a ligand that is apically coordinated. It has a covalent bond with the metal ion, which forms a crystal lattice structure. The coordination of 2-(Cyclohexylaminomethyl)pyridine's anion with the chloride results in its absorption of light at 602 nm and its emission at 595 nm. 2-(Cyclohexylaminomethyl)pyridine has been shown to be a nonporous solid that can be used as an anion sensor for chloride ions. This ligand also exhibits thermochromism and changes color when heated. The color change is reversible, but becomes more pronounced as temperature increases.
