Descrição:SKF 91488 is a histamine receptor agonist that binds to the H1 and H2 receptors. It has been shown to inhibit the release of histamine from mast cells in the bowel, preventing the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease. SKF 91488 was also shown to reduce bacterial infection by inhibiting signalling pathways that lead to ingestion, bacterial infection, and abdominal pain. The mechanisms of action of SKF 91488 are not fully understood but may involve suppression of afferent nerve activity, which may be due to its ability to block antigen-induced responses. This drug has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties as well as an ability to inhibit toxin-induced inflammation.
