1-Phenylvinylboronic acid pinacol ester is a catalytic reagent that is used in organic chemistry. It has been shown to be effective in the stabilization of nanostructured materials, such as nanocrystals and organic solvents. The stability of these materials has been attributed to substituent effects on the boronic acid group. 1-Phenylvinylboronic acid pinacol ester has also been shown to be an effective catalyst for cyclopentadiene. This compound can also be used uncatalyzed, although it yields hydrogen peroxide as a byproduct. The use of 1-phenylvinylboronic acid pinacol ester in experiments can be challenging due to its instability in organic solvents.
