4-Bromo-5-ethyl-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme human aldosterone synthase, which catalyzes the conversion of cholesterol to aldosterone. The inhibition of this enzyme by 4-bromo-5-ethyl-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole leads to increased sodium excretion and reduced blood pressure. 4-(2’,3’,4’,5’)Bromo 5-(2’,3’,4’)Ethyl 1(2H)-Methyl Pyrazole has been shown to be safe in monkeys with no adverse effects. This compound has also been shown to be selective for humans and not affect other species tested.
