Heat Shock Protein Inhibitor I is a protein that inhibits the heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) enzyme. Heat Shock Protein Inhibitor I is synthesized by the bacterium Streptomyces griseoruber and has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in vitro. This drug has also been shown to be radiosensitizing, which means it can increase the sensitivity of cancer cells to radiation therapy. Heat Shock Protein Inhibitor I may also have anticancer activity by inhibiting the production of epidermal growth factor (EGF) and other growth factors.
