It inhibits the activity of these channels by binding to the extracellular domain of their alpha subunit. The affinity of 2-(2-((5-(Thiophen-2-yl)isoxazol-3-yl)methoxy)acetamido)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene 3 carboxamide for its target is about 100 times greater than for other ion channels such as potassium channels. This compound has been shown to be effective against chronic pain
