3,5-Dichloro-4-iodopyridine is an organic compound that has a reaction rate of 1.0 × 10 M/s. This chemical is used to synthesize deuterated elastin and may be used in the diagnosis of pulmonary disease. 3,5-Dichloro-4-iodopyridine can be used as a reactant in cross-coupling reactions. It can be synthesized by reacting an iodide with an erythrocyte membrane containing pyridinium to give a pyridinium salt. The reaction is catalyzed by palladium and dissociates into its constituent ions when dissolved in water.
