It is an alkylating agent and an inhibitor of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). 4,4-Dimethyl-2-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazole is used in organic synthesis as a catalyst for the alkylation of carbonyl compounds with alkyl halides.
