4,4'-Hexamethylenebis(1,1-dimethylsemicarbazide) is a water-soluble chemical that is resistant to chlorine and monomer. It is used as an additive in polyesters and polyurethanes because it increases the hardness of the polymerized product. 4,4'-Hexamethylenebis(1,1-dimethylsemicarbazide) also has a property called absorber that prevents ultraviolet light from damaging other materials. It is a nitrogen containing compound with an epoxy group on one end and an amine group on the other end. This molecule can be used to make polyurethane foams or coatings for metal surfaces.
