Threo-guaiacylglycerol beta-coniferyl ether is a euonymus extract that is used as an herb medicine. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the production of TNF-α and other pro-inflammatory cytokines in a dose-dependent manner. Threo-guaiacylglycerol beta-coniferyl ether also has antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer properties. The extract is made from the leaves of Euonymus japonicus, which are boiled in ethanol for extraction. The main active components found in this extract are pinoresinol and dichroic acid, which are believed to be responsible for its pharmacological effects.
