4,5-Diepipsidial A is a natural compound that is found in an extract from the Chinese herb Dictamni radix. The extract has been shown to have anticancer activity in cell cultures and animal models. 4,5-Diepipsidial A has also been shown to inhibit the activity of histone deacetylase (HDAC), which is an enzyme that removes acetyl groups from histones. This inhibition results in increased expression of genes involved in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation. 4,5-Diepipsidial A may be a good candidate for cancer treatment because it has high cytotoxicity and inhibits HDAC activity.
