Descrição:Mercury selenide is a semiconductor that has been studied extensively due to its unique electronic properties. Mercury selenide is a group II-VI semiconductor with a bandgap of 0.5eV, which allows it to be used in photovoltaic cells and solar panels. It also has a high thermal expansion coefficient, which makes it an excellent material for use in the manufacture of lenses for infrared cameras. Mercury selenide can be prepared by reacting mercury with elemental selenium at high temperatures. The resulting compound is then heated in vacuum until the mercury evaporates, leaving behind the solid form of mercury selenide.
