It is found in the methanolic extract of Ferula species. Coumarins have been shown to have anticancer effects and some coumarins induce apoptosis in cancer cells. 2-(2,6-Dimethoxy-4-prop-1-enylphenoxy)-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol has shown anticancer activity against human cancer cell lines and induces apoptosis in these cells.
