2,2′-(1,4-Phenylene)bis-1H-benzimidazole-4,6-disulfonic acid is an organic molecule that has been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The antioxidant effect of this molecule is due to its ability to scavenge free radicals and inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). This compound also inhibits the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which are enzymes that degrade collagen and other proteins in the extracellular matrix. 2,2′-(1,4-Phenylene)bis-1H-benzimidazole-4,6-disulfonic acid has been shown to inhibit lemongrass oil oxidation by preventing photoelectron radiation from attacking the fatty alcohols within the oil. It has also been shown to have a kinetic energy absorption capacity of around 100 kJ/mol and a UV absorbance maximum at about 265
