Acetyl tetrapeptide-5 is a peptide that is used in cosmeceuticals for skin care. This peptide also has been shown to increase blood flow by dilating blood vessels and increasing capillary permeability. Acetyl tetrapeptide-5 stimulates the growth of skin cells in cell culture and microcapsules, which may be due to its ability to promote chemical reactions. This peptide is not active against bacterial strains such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes.
