Squalamine lactate is an antioxidant vitamin that is used to treat eye disorders and is commonly used in combination therapy for these conditions. Squalamine lactate has been shown to be an active analogue of squalamine, which is a drug that inhibits angiogenesis, the growth of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones. It also has been shown to be effective against choroidal neovascularization, which is a complication of age-related macular degeneration. Squalamine lactate has not been found to have any significant side effects or adverse interactions with other medications and may be useful in treating bowel diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease.
