3-Chlorophenyl methyl sulfone is a cavity-fighting molecule that can be used to prevent tooth decay. It is an antibacterial substance that can inhibit the growth of bacteria by attacking them with chlorine. 3-Chlorophenyl methyl sulfone binds to the bacterial cell wall and prevents it from building up, which destroys the outer layer of the bacteria. This process leads to the death of the bacteria. 3-Chlorophenyl methyl sulfone has been shown to have antibacterial activity against gram-positive, gram-negative, and acid-fast strains of bacteria and has been found to be effective in preventing cavities in rats.
