Descrição:5-Methyl-2-phenyl-2-hexenal is a common component of cinnamon oil and has been shown to be an effective antifungal. 5-Methyl-2-phenyl-2-hexenal inhibits the growth of fungi by inhibiting the synthesis of fatty acids and sterols, which are required for cell membrane formation. 5-Methyl-2-phenyl-2-hexenal also inhibits the activity of both DNA polymerase and RNA polymerase. It can be used as a model system to study the kinetic data obtained from ethyl esters and aldehydes.
