Hexahydrophenyl cinacalcet hydrochloride (HPC) is a synthetic compound that is used as an impurity standard in the manufacture of other drugs. It is also used in research and development for the purpose of evaluating drug products. HPC is a metabolite of cinacalcet, which is a drug for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism, particularly in patients with chronic renal failure. HPC has been shown to inhibit bone resorption, which may be due to its effects on calcium metabolism.
