The compound has been used as a positron-emitting radioactive tracer for cancer diagnosis, for studying the uptake of drugs into muscle tissue, and for measuring the rate of chemical reactions using nmr spectra. The compound has also been used as an intermediate in the preparation of peptides and proteins with high molecular weight.
