Methyl 3-chloro-5-methoxybenzoate is a potent compound that has been investigated for its anticancer properties. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by binding to the active site of the protein topoisomerase II, which is an enzyme involved in DNA replication and transcription. Methyl 3-chloro-5-methoxybenzoate also inhibits the activity of other enzymes such as DNA polymerase, RNA polymerase, and RNAse H. In addition, this molecule may act as a linker between two proteins or molecules to form a complex with potent antiproliferative activity.
