Tert-Butyl 3-(6-amino-2-methylpyrimidin-4-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (TMPPC) is a reactive molecule that can induce neuronal death in vitro. TMPPC has the ability to form hydrogen bonds with amide groups of proteins and nucleic acids, which may result in tertiary structure changes. It is also able to react with DNA and RNA to form covalent adducts, which may lead to cell death by inhibiting protein synthesis. TMPPC has shown potential as a biomarker for fetal bovine serum (FBS), due to its reactivity with intramolecular hydrogen. The analytical method used for quantification of TMPPC is UV spectroscopy at a wavelength of 280 nm, using the absorption maximum at 265 nm.
