6-Fluoro-1,3-benzoxazole is a potent and selective inhibitor of the enzyme catalytic cycle. It has been shown to inhibit the chlorinating reaction in the catalytic cycle by preventing the formation of an intermediate that reacts with oxygen. 6-Fluoro-1,3-benzoxazole has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of fatty acid synthase, which is involved in cellular lipid metabolism. This drug was originally discovered through biochemical screening and optimization as a potential drug candidate for treating obesity. However, this compound has not yet been tested on animals or humans.
