3-Formyl-5-isopropoxyphenylboronic acid is a heterocyclic compound that is used to inhibit the synthesis of protein. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of 3-hydroxyacyl coenzyme A dehydrogenase, which is involved in the synthesis of fatty acids and other compounds. 3-Formyl-5-isopropoxyphenylboronic acid inhibits the enzyme by binding to its active site and preventing it from functioning. This inhibition prevents the conversion of acetoacetate into acetoacetyl CoA, which would then be converted into acetone or other products in a metabolic pathway.
